Autumn is all about staying in with a cup of coffee, a blanket and a great album on the stereo, at leat for a day off work or a weekend. While fall is getting closer and closer, I am desperately trying to find new great music to listen to, here are some of my go-to’s this fall:
The Pierces
Creation
Polydor
This is the fifth album from the Pierce sisters, and they are back better then ever. The single “Kings” has been played heavily at my place this year, and the magic continues on the full lenght album. I’ve had a love/hate relationship with the band over the years, I wasn’t very into their darker sound on their «Thirteen Tales of Love and Revenge» album, but their 2014 modern singer/songwriter sound is just perfect for a autumn after noon at the home office.
Karen O
Crush Songs <3
Cult Records
When I first heard about a new Karen O record I started wondering where this creative lady has been for the last year? After appearing on the 2009 soundtrack to Where The Wildthings, and releasing the Mosquito album as the front woman of Yeah Yeah Yeahs, little has been heard from this lady. Both YYY and Karen has always been a favourite of mine, and this fall she’s out with a collection of crush songs. The album contains of fifteen sweet, acustic short songs about, you guessed it, mostly falling in love.
Alvvays
Alvvays
Polyvinyl
The debut album by canadian band Alvvays has been with me all through summer, and it is definitely joining me this fall as well. The band has been touring with the likes of Peter Bjorn and John and Pains of Being Pure at Heart already, and their debut is a nod to the U.K. post-punk era. After playing the SXSW festival in 2014 the band got signed to Polyvinyl records shortly thereafter. The album makes the perfect hung over cure for a lazy sunday if you ask me (and yes, that’s a good thing).
